Thirst
Question:
So I am only a few days into Induction and I notice I am much more thirsty than normal. I suppose this is good since I need to drink more water than I have been, but has this happend to anybody else? If so do you ever feel hungry after a glass of water, even if you weren’t before?
I’ve never done induction but I am a lot more thirsty now than before. — Michael Nielsen M.Sc.EE Music: http://mp3.com/archon2 Website: http://www.archonia.dk
Response:
Actually, carbs retain water. When you take the carbs out of your system, you’re no longer retaining so much water. When on induction, the first weight you lose is water weight. That’s because you’ve eliminated the carbs that are retaining all that water. It’s very natural to become more thirsty, not only because you’re no longer retaining water, but you’re also eating more fat and protein – making you thirsty. And since we all need water to live, this is a great way to make sure we drink it. It’s good for our organs and our skin and for our muscles to work properly. It’s essential to the liver, which aids in our food breakdown, and it flushes the toxins out of us. Enjoy the thirst!

Water is very good for you. Drink as much as you want. I think on diets with lots of unnatural foods we lose our natural thirst. I drink about 4 liters a day. Tom

Yes, but I think it’s normal. Go ahead and drink more water, it’s good for you.

I’ve used a rule about how much water to drink daily. Take one/half of your body weight in pounds and that is how many ounces of water to drink daily at a minimum. Excess thirst is a symptom for diabetes and other problems too, so have yourself checked. JimL
Response:
I’m in the first week too, and am very thirsty as well. I think it’s from the diet change, eating so much cheese, and meat. I wouldn’t worry about the diabetis comment. I’ve done weight watchers for the last 5 months and have lost 35 pounds on it, and never had this thirst like I do now.
