Eat less. Set portions for yourself and stick to eat. Eat at least 5 times a day spread them out as evenly as possibly. Stay away from carbs as much as possible. Ask the pdoc about other meds that might not cause as much of a gain. Good luck. Jim Please have a look at my web site http://mybipolar.tripod.com/jim/

My shrink was talking about stopping meds sometime in the next couple of years. I’ve been on them for about 9 years, almost without a break, and the thought of stopping them seems like a miracle, but I’m wondering how I’ll cope without them, and if I should start preparing myself for being meds free sometime in the future. But I’m working blind, as I don’t really know what sorts of problems I could have. I would like to hear about coming off meds in detail, so I know something about what’s going to happen if and when I stop mine. — sm – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text -> On Sat, 11 May 2002 15:28:06 -0700, in alt.support.schizophrenia "Cubit" > <1.408.578.0…@Spam.not> wrote: > >> try zyprexa, > >Ah, hell no! Not to sound like a broken record, but I switched from zyprexa to geodon and I have lost 10 pounds so far. I had put on about 30. My appetite was just un-f*ing-believable. I could eat a whole meal and still be starving. I’m feeling much better off of zyprexa, too. -Michael "Qoo" <chown…@singnet.com.sg> wrote in message

I switched from Risperdal to geodon and have lost weight also. I have had some nausea, have you experienced this? Jim Please have a look at my web site http://mybipolar.tripod.com/jim/

Now that I take anti-psychotics, my lifestyle has totally changed. I no longer go to the gym anymore. When I do go to the gym, my workouts are not near the level I used to achieve. The drugs make me hungry all the time. I tried risperdal and now seroquel, I get the same thing. I eat more and gain weight. Now I get fatter it’s harder to move around, I find it harder to move anywhere. I don’t think I’ll last long. It just seems so hopeless now.
Response:
Its a question of which symptoms you prefer. The drug synptoms or the sz symptoms. Most drugs make the negative sympyoms worse. Thats what is happening in your case apparently. Negative symptoms are things like lack of drive, emotional flatness, loss of interest. Everything is a trade off. The mind drugs help? Damo http://community.webtv.net/damodara/MyStoryasIseeit

Ah, hell no! Zyprexa is worse, especially in causing weight gain. Maybe you can use a low dosage of one of the meds to find a balance between sanity and the fat farm.
