What the hell kind of topic is this?

Categories: Diabetics

Question:

I love how usenet threads can stray SO FAR from the original topic ;) So, in that vain, let me start a thread that I ENCOURAGE people to stray from… "My VERY flirtatious (homosexual or heterosexual, fill in however applies to you) lover and I love to share microwaved popcorn covered in peanut butter (sweetened with aspartame) after we get the munchies from smoking marijuana. We’re wondering if that’s good for our bg levels" (hehehehehe ;) ) — Louis Sica

Sure, as long as you don’t use human insulin. By the way, do you think it’s okay for a diabetic to eat in public? /Janet P.S.  Send pictures. — "A lack of sensitivity is not implicit in a distaste for sentimentality. So refreshing to see a thread reflecting the reality of life for diabetics. No one seems to ever mention in this newsgroup that we might actually have sex or God forbid, catch a buzz.  If you don’t mind I’ll take your thread and go even farhter afield….. I’d like some input form Type I’s on the pro’s and con’s of their prefered type of recreational drug. I myself prefer a little smoke over alcohol, but find I’m more social when I drink.  I believe the herb is not as bad for my body(except for the Munchies), and the after effects are nil. Comments to the group please……. I’m Type 2 myself, but I prefer a mushroom hallucinogenic concoction I learned of in a previous life as a Mayan priest. It helps me find the sense in a lot of the postings here on this newsgroup.

Don’t you find that after a spliff you REALLY "feel the need"? The BIG problem then is have you got enough sugar running around to support your endevours? Anyway I gave up all that stuff years ago, coz I didn’t like not remembering WHAT I’d been up to over the preceeding 24 hours. Before I landed on this planet, I was a frequent user of hi quality herbs, and being diabetic and with moderate intelligence, I wondered what the effects on blood sugar were. (BTW, I found the herb in the early  ’50s, stopped for a while in the  ’60s, and rediscovered it in the ’70s. I’ve been DM since 1968.) So I tested. Before, during and after. Several times. Munchie hysteria aside, there were no discernable changes in meter readings. However, in spite of the relaxing effects of the herb, a DM must always remember who he is, and keep control. It doesn’t have to be a downer, but it is a lot smarter. I’m now an occasional user of some of the produce of N. California. It’s a nice change and beats booze. (I have a drink 2-3 times a year). AND, I am aware of its probable effect on the lungs. TEHO.    (That’s "To each, his own", folks.)
