The real problem
Question:
I fully agree with you, Guy. I personally do not put anyone in my kill file, as most people will even occasionally contribute something to my knowledge of diabetes. If a thread is started or develops with the intent of nothing more than having a go at someone for this or that, then I just ignore the thread. Like you I have obtained a considerable and life-saving amount of knowledge from this group. Personal vendettas and "bitch sessions" serve no purpose here. To those who engage in that activity I would say – go and post something worthwhile. Something about diabetes. Something that’s not a scam. Henry Mydlarz
– Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – From Guy Williams Last night i slept eight hours like a baby. No aches, no pain and my blood sugar was 79 this AM. Four years ago I would have been at maybe 400 to 500 after a night with severe burning of my hands and legs. And a lot more. I don’t have much going for me but I have enough sense to use these groups to benefit me. I quit playing high school games of putting a person down to make me feel superior. I accepted the fact that I have limitations and no amount of words will change that. What I am seeing here is so much childish behavior and it does much harm to other diabetics. Why are people so insecure they go in a rage when they are crossed in any way. Take a look around and see the world as it really functions. We see this in dirt room bars with knife fights and we see it at Universities where the head of a math Department goes on a long term vendetta because the other professor competed with him for position years ago.. The both have been dead a long time and almost forgotten. All that wasted effort. If you are important it will be very evident. No amount of bull or bullying will change it either way. My life was improved by those that have contributed so much information here. All decent people contribute their part. I take my temper fits out on that famous sand pile. I come here to learn– yes learn. I think that is what Dr. Reid had in mind when this group was created.

I like what you said so much that I decided it is a very good philosophy to try to emulate when using any newsgroups. My wife calls me a baby at times. There are times when things get rough. I try to post on an upbeat. Other people don’t need my problems except to warn them of what lies ahead if they go off on a tangent. If you discard the junk these groups do work. [snip] Whew! What a relief! I read that first sentence and I thought you were going to say you woke wet, hungry and crying. ‘-) — Chuck Prejudice can be divided into pre-judgments (easier than thinking) and bigotry (easier to feel good about oneself when one can push down another group).
