Question on Fiber in Carbs

Categories: Diabetics

Question:

When you read a label that for instance says 8 gm carbs and 4 gms fiber, do you count that as 8 gms or 4gms?

It depends on where you’re located.  In the US, the total carb figure includes the fiber, so you can subtract the fiber.  In other parts of the world, the total carb figure doesn’t include the fiber; if you’re outside the US, check with the appropriate authority in your country for the labelling rules.
