Lupron IM question

Categories: Diabetics

Question:

Lupron is a sub- cutaneous injection and is administered with the same needles that diabetics use to inject insulin. I gave myself the shots in the thigh

Yep, that’s how I do them.  They’re very easy, little tiny needles!

Response:

CAN YOU GIVE YOURSELF THE LUPRON SHOTS FROM THE 12 DAY KIT IN THE BUT OR ONLY IN THE THIGHT AND STOMACH THANKS JEANNE IN ILLINOIS

My RE says take in the Butt (shh! don’t tell, but I took in the leg.  I’d rather do it myself)

Response:

Oh, I assume you mean the IM shot.   That’s intramuscular….  I don’t know about the subcutaneous stuff..

The two week "kit" contains sub-q needles…you can use the butt, arm, stomach, or thigh…Personally, I alternate thighs…and save the butt for i/m shots. — Trisha93 (remove NOSPAM in reply)

Response:

I took mine in the back part of my upper arm – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – 3.75 depot, can I take it IM in my leg?  I hate that butt shot! Anyone care to post about your Lupron story for me?

Response:

I think there are two kinds of Lupron shots.  The once a day kind that is sub-Q and the Lupron Depot kind.  This is not taken as often and is IM. The Sub-Q one is easy once you get used to placing a needle in yourself.  I don’t think I could give myself an IM Teri Z

I gave myself the shots in the thigh although some people do them in the stomach. BTW, it is also possible to do an IM injection in the thigh.                                            Lisa

Response:

Lupron must be injected intramuscular; therefore, it cannot be taken in the leg.  I am sorry to be the bearer of bearer of bad news. Good Luck – Kelley

Response:

I took lupron depot for 3 months last winter.  Took the shot in the butt and it’s not that bad. It’s only once a month.  So it’s done and over with before you have to think about it again. I had hot flashes big time.  Toughed it out with theme but I would definately recommend getting add back therapy if you get them bad.  It was so bad that in the middle of a northern winter I had the windows open and I was stripped down to my bra.  Also a lot of dryness.  All in all it wasn’t that bad.  Except that they had to start me up again because my period has decided not to return. Good luck and enjoy menopauseland- Mary – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – 3.75 depot, can I take it IM in my leg?  I hate that butt shot! Anyone care to post about your Lupron story for me?
