Injecting in Public.
Question:
My wife told me that some people rather react horrified. She sees them because she can observe the people who are observing me. So she often notices the people’s reaction while I don’t.
They think you’re a junkie?

Don’t think so. (Haven’t asked those individuals, but expect to have a different outcome if they thought I was a junk. Finger sticking doesn’t look similar to any injection, a injection Pen is so different from another needle.) People in general don’t like to see needles and blood. My point is that I don’t see those reactions. But they are still there. Stef ten bras
Response:
Normaly I do my injections in public if I am in a restaurant. I prefer standing with my back to a wall so nobody can bump into me from the side I do not have eyes. Only once I got an inverse reaction, from a person who knew my condition and that injections are ‘normal’. Her problem ! But I am not observing people when injecting or finger sticking. My wife told me that some people rather react horrified. She sees them because she can observe the people who are observing me. So she often notices the people’s reaction while I don’t. Most people (including me) do the same when seeing a handicaped or misformed person (especialy children) we react to it, but try to hide the reaction to that person, but we are hiding less to other persons around. My advise : Inject/fingerstick discrete, but do the other diabetics a service: do it in public. You might even get a hiden reaction like : ‘Did you see that how handy/fast those moderns injection thingies work’. Asking a person to hold part of your equipment works as wel. (I did this once standing in a row which I didn’t want to leave, I needed some space so asked the person in front of me to hold something and creating some space at the same time.). Have a good time, stef ten bras
