Altace/Ramipril causing High BG's?

Categories: Diabetics

Question:

Mid Ouyang said… – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – My Doc just put me on Altace/Ramipril for kidney preventive maintenance. I noticed my BG’s have increased and are harder to lower now. Has anyone else experienced this? Reason why I ask is because sometimes my routine just freaks out and it seems as if I have to start all over with new dose amounts, so I’m not sure if the Altace is coincidental or not. hasn’t rased my BGs. Derek Hasn’t raised mine either. Mid Type II

Altace is noted for lowering blood sugars.  Some clinical studies indicate that it is an anti-heart attack drug for diabetics and seems to slow the progression of T2 in folks.   After reading these two:  http://www.diabetes.org/main/community/forecast/page44.jsp   http://www.cihr.ca/news/press_releases/00/pr-0018_e.shtml I am advising my daughter-in-law to push her doc to let her take  Altrace at the first sign of any situation that would let him  squeeze it by the insurance company.  (She is genetically at  risk for T2. ) Regards Old Al (T1 since 94, 38 units H + U via 4 injections daily)   A retired engineer who shares his experiences
