Slimfast… thirsty?
Question:
As I always preface my posts – please no flames. :) I had a Slimfast drink at lunch and breakfast today. I know, I know – that’s not a healthy, lifetime way of eating… but it’s SO convenient to just grab one out of the fridge and GO since my life is always so rushed. So I thought just MAYBE this would be a way of helping me cut back on my portions, etc by consuming less – kind of a "jump start" until I get more organized about healthy lunches and such (I figure it’s better than that McDonalds meal anyway!) I took a vitamin, and have been drinking lots of water, and I’m pretty full. Not craving anything today, thank goodness. I took the dog and walked up and down the driveway a bit at lunch break. (I also got a new CD player so I plan on going walking on my lunch hour each day) I’m just SO unbelievably thirsty. I’m wondering why? I’ve already had close to 100 oz of water today and still my mouth seems dry as a bone.
Response:
Flames – there are better alternatives out there than slimfast for quick on the go meals! Serious – Thirst from sugar and sodium. Slimcrap is filled with both. Instead of just water – try drinking something like watered down orange juice. Sometimes (for me) if I drink alot of water my mouth feels parched with the more water I drink. I’ll switch to something like a small glass of juice, ice tea, lemon flavor, etc to help relieve the parched feeling.
Responding to my own post – had an after thought. Are you using any diet pills for a diet aid? Many of those can cause you to feel extra thirsty too. But my bet is still on the sugar and sodium in slimcrap

I don’t know about the thirst – but if I eat too much sodium, I’m very thirsty. As for the slimfast – if you’d trade it in for an Atkins rtd (ready to drink) or Myoplex, you’ll get tons more protein, almost no carbs, and for less calories. Slimfast has more sugar than a candybar, less protein than a glass of milk, etc. det

You know Slimfast is mostly sugar right? Thirst is an indicator of diabetes IIRC. When were you last checked for this? – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – As I always preface my posts – please no flames. :) I had a Slimfast drink at lunch and breakfast today. Thirst is a primary indicator of diabetes. You should visit your doctor if this persists. You’ll know because even if you drink loads of water, you’ll still feel thirsty
