Sabra's a mystery
Question:
Well, they checked for hyperthyroidism and diabetes. He has neither. They want to check his urine to see if he’s excreting (something I forget the words for) something that is causing the weight loss. If not, best guess is he is simply getting old and his body is going downhill
So I guess the other vet may have been right in the first place, although his shrugging attitude of "he’s old" ticked me off. My poor Sabra baby. Trying to get a pee sample AND get it to the vet is going to be some major ordeal. But I’ll do the best I can, if there is one last possibility that could tell me something fixable is wrong. Otherwise, I will have to face the fact that he is fading. How old is Sabra? It’s tough to see them getting old, that is for sure, but better than losing them too early. Still, cats surprise you, it may be just a slump too. Purrs for Sabra and more for you.

If so, they have small plastic beads that they use in beanbags – they can be used in place of litter. They do not absorb urine, so you can just pour it off into a container. The beads are reusable – just wash and dry! I also keep a special litter box just for this contingency. Good luck with your old man! Patti

He’s one of those pulled-off-the-streets strays, so all we have is our best guess, which is about 15-1/2. He most defnitely has that "old cat" look, so I’m sure he is somewhere in that vicinity. Thanks for the purrs.
