Research about BG self testing

Categories: Diabetes

Question:

I am doing research on blood glucose self testing. Need pointers to any previous research papers or literature on this. My specific questions are: 1. Frequency of BG self testing for different types of diabetes, age groups etc. 2. Typical patterns of testing over lifetime of diabetes? 3. Why people stop testing or avoid testing? 4. What motivates people to start testing again? I would be most grateful to anyone who could help my research. Maya

Response:

Maya I have a 10 page list of references on blood glucose testing kindly sent to me by the BDA.  I would be happy to snail mail it to you if you send me an address but I don’t fancy typing it all in! An example or two from the list so you can see if it would be helpful: GALLICAHAN M.  Self monitoring of glucose by people with diabetes; evidence based practice.  Brit med J 1997 314:964-967. SCORPIGLIONE N,  EL SHAZLY M, ABDEL FATTAH M, BELFIGLIO M, CAVALIERE D, CARINCI F, LABBROZZI D, MARI E, MASSI BENEDETTI M, TOGNONI G, NICOLUCCI A.  Epidemiology and determenace of blood glucose self monitoring in clincila practice.  Diabetes Res & Clin Pract 1996 34(2): 115-125.
