profile connection

Categories: Diabetes

Question:

Can someone tell me how to initialize or initiate a connection from my computer to profile monitor? What kind of software do I use? My procom for win isn’t working right now, so I think I’m limited to dos. I could also use a win driver for a USR sportster 14.4 internal modem if anyone has one. The provided drivers for procom won’t work with it.     anyway, then what? I input DMI to download insulin doses? Where does that end up? as a text file? what are the options? It will display on the terminal screen. Activate the screen capture to put it in a log file, then close it after it’s done. You can use any editor on the resulting file. There ar also shareware programs available somewhere on the web. I don’t have the URL’s handy at the moment, but can look them up later if you want. Gotta go to supper right now. Ted Quick

Here is a URL for a good file on how to do it: For the One Touch Profile: ftp://vic.cc.purdue.edu/pub/lifescan.pro There are several programs that work with the meter, here’s a URL that has several links: http://www.castleweb.com/Diabetes/D_06_150.htm In any case, to work with your PC, you will need to get the connecting cable from lifescan. It is a special cable with active electronics in one of the connectors, so it would be very difficult to make. I use a mac, so, I just plugged it in and started the comm program and there it was babbling. It echos the display to the computer, so if it’s asking for a strip… So, I’m not much help in making Windows behave although I’ve also got it to work with SoftWindows 95 on my mac. Walt
