Question:
hey you’re looking cute!

Thanks, but I’m not. My BMI is still "overweight" and my BF% is still in the upper 20’s or low 30’s, depending on which calculator I use. Ideal %bf for women is 22% so you’re almost there, which is when it gets hard to go further. I’m at about 20% (vs 15% ideal for men) so I’m about as far away as you are, and it’s damn near impossible for me to lose more weight, at least without suffering. OTOH, being told you look great (you do) doesn’t make it any easier to put up with the stress of trying to lose more.
She’s way overweight and looks terrible! She could easily lose 30 pounds. There, does that help? ;-) — Bob in CT

This past weekend, the tech crew for DragonCon did some filming for our sketches that show on a big screen before some of the big events at the con. For one of the sketches, we all got to be pirates. Here are some of the good pics of me (good as in not blurry) http://techops.net/gallery/video_shoot_3/074_G http://techops.net/gallery/video_shoot_3/069_G The first one is from the waist up, and the second one is one of the rare photos in which I think I actually look like me, not making a weird face or anything. There are various other ones on the site with me in them, if anyone’s really bored and feels like browsing, lol. — Michelle Levin http://www.mindspring.com/~lunachick I have only 3 flaws. Dude, thanks. Though you’re making me feel a little guilty that I’m in a plateau and not really doing anything about it. The weightloss so far has been relatively painless, but I’m starting to think that for these last 10 or 15 pounds I’m gonna have to suffer. Either I’m doing everything right and this is just one of those stalls that the body needs and it will end on its own, or I’ll have to reduce what I eat to the point of annoying hunger, or push the exercise to a point where it’s not fun anymore. I’m really not so sure I can do it. — Michelle Levin http://www.mindspring.com/~lunachick I have only 3 flaws. My first flaw is thinking that I only have 3 flaws.

I wanna lose the weight, I just don’t want to be miserable doing it. That’s true, but my BMI will always be (and has always, even when I was very thin, been)"overweight". BMI goes by height, not body type. I’d go by bodyfat percentage. What bodyfat percentage would make you happy? What are you looking for in a body? The "I look great in a swimsuit" type of body? Are you looking to be happy with yourself while naked (my personal goal) (though I’m not sure why — heck, no one sees me naked anyway)? I think I’ll hit my goal at around 10-15 percent bodyfat, but we’ll see. As a woman, you’ll necessarily be higher, so 15-20 percent might not be a bad goal. — Bob in CT

After you go through the hardship of losing the bodyfat, there are ways to maintain without constant hunger. Want to know more?

If you’re not up to being perfect or having what others consider to be normal bf levels, then that is your choice and yours alone. You can very likely remain at your current size, continue to eat as you do and exercise as you do, and remain healthy. Or are you saying that maintaining weight is a wrong goal for me personally?
I’m saying that maintaining weight is a wrong goal for you. On the other hand, trying to gain muscle while keeping bodyfat constant could also help you avoid hunger for the most part. So, yes.
