PCP recommendation in San Diego (Kaiser)

Categories: Diabetes

Question:

Dear, All My father has had a diabetes for about 20 years now. About a year ago he got a new job with Kaiser being his HMO. We live in North County San Diego (15 fwy). He currently has a PCP in Rancho Bernando who is not very knowledgable and does not care about his patients much – typical businessman and nothing more. We are desperately looking for a knowledgable and caring internal medicine PCP in our area (15mi radius is OK, i.e. anywhere from Friars Rd. to Rancho Bernando or UTC area). My father’s kidney (protein leakage, I believe) has been affected by his diabetes, he has hypertension, just had a surgery for his diabetic ratinopathy, and… his PCP doesn’t have a clue what to do and does not even try. Any caring and knowledgable internal medicine PCPs recommendations are welcome. OR – is there a different site where I should address this question? Appreciate your responses, V

Response:

v, my mother-in law, while not a diabetic, raves about the treatment she receives at her kaiser, which is in or near carlsbad, where she lives.  i think it’s in la jolla, or some neighboring town.  anyway, you can see it from the 405 freeway. good luck! julie.do – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – and does not even try.
