Nuts or what?

Question:

Ummm… the accucheck advantage I use ( and we use at the hospital) is apporved for venous and capillary blood.    Arterial???that would have spurted!! – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – why would you believe such a thing. is it not the same blood? you’re not accessing vein blood in your finger tips… so that might be slightly higher. But your body should logically have the same blood sugar levels. No, it’s not. Venous or arterial blood has significantly different bG from capillaries. Glucose is carried from places like the liver or stomach to the rest of the body, and by the time it reaches the capillaries it is slightly depleted, when it gets to the veins it is even more depleted. It’s like oxygen levels being different, but not as profound. —

Sorry, I didn’t want to leave out any major type of blood.

Because i believe the blood from one’s arm or other body parts give different readings than the blood from ones fingertips.  Anybody can please add or correct me on this. – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – Sounds like a perfectly logical solution to me! If yer bleeding and need to test, why waste the blood and have to still stick yer finger?? George T2 3/17/98 Glucophage… Ok, my wife thinks I’m flaking out.. It was 2+ hours PP and time for my meter reading. I was walking down the deck stairs and took a shi**er on the ice and gashed my arm. She was running for the medicine and dressings while I rushed for my meter and got a decent drop of blood for it with no damn finger stick. I figured, why waste the moment? She thinks I’ve lost it. — Dave — January 17, 1999 t2 08/98  Glucophage

That happened to me once when I had just used an X-Acto knife to open a letter, and stuck my finger–I didn’t test that blood, because I figured it was unsterile and who knew how that could affect the reading…? I was tempted though. Alan PS: Yes, I later developed lockjaw and died. "Now is all we have."                Delenn, "Babylon 5" To reply in E-Mail, remove SPAMSUCKS from my address.

Last summer I suffered from a sudden and shocking attack of bleeding hemorrhoids.  I never gave the least thought to catching a droplet on the One Touch test strip.  Of course, if I had happened to have at hand a mirror on the end of a long stick, it might have been a different story. — Joe Levy….. If I am not for me, then who will be for me?  If I am for myself alone, what am I? And, if not now when?
