My Dr appt. today
Question:
I went in today and she was real concerned about my blood sugars, saying they are not normal, etc. I go in tomorrow for some fasting blood work. I will be getting my cholesterol checked, lipids?, a hemoglobin A1C, thyroid and a fasting blood sugar. They said they don’t do a glucose tolerance test anymore to dx diabetes either so I won’t be getting that done. If my A1C is high she wants to start me on meds, if they are fine and everything else is okay I am just to eat like a diabetic, and monitor my sugars, fasting and 2 hours after I eat from now on. So what ever happens I am bound to finger sticks several times a day for the rest of my life 
. They also said 2 high fasting sugars gets me into the diabetes club. Which I have had (162 and 134), but since they were on my machine and not theirs I am not actually diagnosed. I also compared machines, they took my sugar there at the office, and there reading off the same drop of blood was 13 points higher? They said it was no big deal, and my machine is accurate.
