Long Beach Marathon – 1999

Categories: Diabetes

Question:

The Long Beach Press-Telegram (Sept. 13) is reporting that the Long Beach Marathon will be run again in 1999.  Plans are well under way to revive the Marathon which ran for 14 years before it ended in 1995 for lack of support. The planners have reserved Saturday, November 29, 1999, for the race, which will be managed by Pro Sports, Inc.  It probably will benefit the American Diabetes Foundation, and Joe Carlson, who served for several years as race director, is participating in the planning. At this stage of planning there is not yet any contact information available. — Don

Great to hear that they’ll be back on the marathon schedule.  Always had great support for the marathoner. — In health and on the run, Ozzie Gontang Maintainer – rec.running FAQ Director, San Diego Marathon Clinic, est. 1975
