But if for some reason a person does not have a free prescribtion from the municipal endocrinology professional, they can use a regular prescribtion and buy insulin for money:         Protaphane HM Penfill U-100 3,0 ml (5 pen cartriges) = 235 RUR = 39 USD         Humalog U-100 1,5 ml (5 pen cartriges) = 193 RUR = 32 USD         Humulin Ultralente U-40 10 ml (1 vial) = 12000* RUR (in 1997) = 2 USD** — * 1000 (one thousand) RUR in 1997 = 1,– (one) RUR in 1998         6000 RUR (old) = 6 RUR (new) = 1 USD ** Humulin U is no longer bought by Russia

Humulin and Novolin (synthetic and semi-sythetic) are about $20cdn for vials and about the same for 1.5ml penfills. 3ml penfills are about $38 and Humulog (lyspro) is about $38 for vial of 1.5ml penfills. Hi, In Switzerland, the prices are: – 41CHF incl.tax (= 27USD) for 5 x 1.5ml ACTRAPID and – 82CHF incl.tax (= 55USD) for 5 x 3ml of INSULATARD. I Pay approx. $20 US for a vial (10ml) of Humulin R or N.  Just bought a pen and paid $30 for the package of cartridges (5X1.5ml) but I think I can get them $4-$5 cheaper than that. Liz

Well, Cliff:         Here in New Brunswick (that’s on the east end of Canada in case you have problems finding me on the map), I pay $37.99 (Canadian) for a box of 5 3.0 ml cartridges of Novolin GE 30/70.  I pay $18.99 for a 1000 ml vial of Novolin GE 30/70.  The last vial of Humulin 30/70 I bought (again 1000 ml) cost me $26.68 (Oct ‘96).         If that doesn’t answer the question E-mail me and I’ll head for the drugstore notepad in hand. — That’s my 2
