Thanks The quack is against me using a third insulin, she thinks it will complicate my control with the only benefit being I don’t have to split an injection whenever I want to pig out on pizza. Personally it would not bother me but the most of the insulin would go off so bit of a waste. Going to try jetting to see if that gets around the pain issues. I find a lot of meals either large 100 grams carb or with high fat content (Pizza etc) spread their carb release over a longer period than Humalog covers. Thanks Bill I currently try to avoid such meals, when occasionally I can no longer resist a pizza or huge lasagne, I think I was the garfield cat, in a previous life. I do split my dosage.A longer acting insulin would allow me to avoid the second injection. Still cannot say I’m really a fan or needles, small ones I’m slowly getting less uncomfortable with, big ones still give me the heebee’s. The other thing I’ve do is eat the pizza inject 8 units for the first part of its load then start exercising about 90 minutes later. Works well but not always convenient. I don’t think the pump thing is for me at this time, my numbers are reasonable on my 4 injections a day regime, I’m still learning so they will hopefully get to be good. Food has always really been a fuel for me, not a great foody, so I’m quite happy to be a little regimented about diet and eat just 3 times a day. I’m probably going to try jetting once I get my control good on needles. Does anyone know if others are being developed? I have had very good experience with these two, and am looking for others – in particular one with an intermediate time profile. At the risk of being obvious and of being accused of selling, have you thought about a pump? (I work for Minimed as you see).  You could also try splitting your meal boluses into two pieces half at beginning and half about 1 hr. later. Bill
