High Altitudes and Diabetes

Categories: Diabetes

Question:

| I don’t know of any effects on diabetes, but blood glucose testers | are affected.  Call your manufacturer for details on your monitor. | I didn’t keep the paper reference, maybe some one else did and will | post it. And so I did with OneTouch II.  They would not give me an absolute limit on altitude, but were willing to tell me that 10,000 feet was okay. At 9500 feet, my readings came out very typical over a 3 day period. —                                 | Andy Ellis               |                                 | Room: DR-01C57           |                                 | 11900 North Pecos Street |                                 | Denver, CO  80234        |                                 | (303) 538-4286           |

[attribution challenged software] I am new here so hopefully this isn’t a FAQ. I will be travelling to  Nepal this winter and I’m wonderding if high altitude has any effect on diabetes. I have been in the Rockies in Alberta numerous times and I noticed that I felt more tired than usual. Since then I have had a kidney transplant and have slighty high blood which adds another wrinkle I supose.

If anyone has experience or advice on this topic, please let me know.
