Question:
Well…I am new to this. I was diagnosed with type2 diabetes may 2000.
snip I quit smoking and am part of the alt.support.non-smoking newsgroup as well. I guess that’s about it for now. Frannie
Frannie, Just want to say hi to someone from AS3. Mike is doing better. Thanks for pointing me here. April

Well, Chromium Piccolate is a dangerous and fraudulent thing to take, If you REALLY think that you are one of the minuscule number of chromium deficient people – take brewer’s yeast – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – Well…I am new to this. I was diagnosed with type2 diabetes may 2000. I take glucophage and of my own choice I do take chromium. I am really new to this disease, even though my dad has been type 2 for a few years now. Recently he had a mini stroke and he smokes like a steam engine. I quit smoking and am part of the alt.support.non-smoking newsgroup as well. I guess that’s about it for now. I don’t really know what questions to ask or anything. I use an AccuSoft advantage tester and probably the only thing I have to try to get is the difference between some monitors I guess. Because mine measures in mmol so when someone asks me what is normal I say between 6.0 and 7.0 (that’s what my medical books said anyways).Anywas..I hope to learn a lot in this group. thanks

Welcome Frannie, 5.0 mmol/L = 90 mg/100ml 5.5 mmol/L = 99 mg/100ml The rule is to multiply mmol by 18. Since this his a bit hard to do mentally you may find it easier to double and then multiply by nine. Normal is a relative word. What is normal in some circumstances would not be normal in others. Between 6.0 mmol/L and 7.0 mmol/L would be fine after a meal but most T2s would consider it too high as a waking value. T1s prefer higher values since they are prone to hypos. Personally I aim for about 5.0 to 5.5 on rising in the morning. — Quentin Grady ^ ^ / New Zealand, #,#< [ / / "… and the blind dog was leading." http://homepages.paradise.net.nz/quentin
