Response:
Howie, Have you tried calling your doctor? You may be having some kind of reaction to something. This doesn’t sound like the normal process most of us have described going through. I had all these things, but very very early on and very minor and for only a short period of time. — JerryW jweindel at flash dot net 2/11/04 PSA 2.6, Suspicious DRE (age 62) 2/23/04 Biopsy: Gleason 3+4=7, T2a, left lobe 5/18/04 RRP, Path: Gleason 4+3=7, T2c, both lobes 7/13/04 PSA <0.1 10/12/04 PSA <0.1 1/18/05 PSA <0.1 – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – Almost a month now since Robotic surgery..and 2 weeks since cath taken out…but..my NADS feel like leather, Itch like crazy..get crusty..have rash in creases of groin…going nuts here..tried ointments, powders, air…soaps…cant wear briefs because they get into crease and make it worse. Response:
Howie, go see a doctor or at least a pharmacist. You don’t need a specialst to treat a fungus. Hell, no, it’s not normal. Response:
When I left the hospital they gave me a conditioner called Aloe Vesta and also told me to use Calmoseptine. The cream forms a barrier so your skin doesn’t get irritated from the urine. I used Bacitracin zinc ointment on the tip especially when I had the cath in. Good luck.

______ Hi Howie. I had radiation and am now doing two years’ worth of hormone deprivation therapy with Zoladex. Ever since I started with those damned shots, I have been having skin problems. First it was a horrible bout with athlete’s foot, which hadn’t troubled me in a dozen years or more. Then it was exactly what you are experiencing. My urologist has asked three times if I am diabetic (I am not, and the test he sent me for proved that — although he asked again AFTER he received the results) because diabetes can produce such a result. Incidentally, I do not think highly of this guy. When this jock itch kind of stuff first afflicted me, he suggested I stop using the Tinactin powder that relieved the itch, because it might be aggravating the problem. He suggested soaking in a hot tub. I did that and it got rid of it! But, unfortunately, the creeping crud came back last week. This time, he prescribed Lotrisone cream, but I find that it increases the itch. I have taken to using over-the-counter hydrocortisone cream — along with bathtub soaking, and that seems to help. I think my problem here and in other areas is that infernal Zoladex, and I may well abandon the unproven therapy before my sixth shot comes due. I really believe that one of its many side effects is a debilitating effect on the immune system. Keep us posted, please. Marshall
Response:
Aandrogen deprivation does impair healing, and maybe immunity. And realize that the only difference between athlete’s foot and jock itch is about one meter "as the bug crawls".
