Lee, I understand. Tonight I’m entering a contest to have a stay in your fair city. We’ll have to get together if I win :-) — Bob Gootee When you get to the end of your rope, tie a knot and hang on.

Love to have you but I hope it won’t be for the next week or so.  We awoke this AM to -14, windy and temperature is dropping to -25 tonight and we will have this for the next week! If it gets any colder, I’m moving in with Mike in Miami. <g> Regards Lee in Toronto with brass monkey and cast iron bulldog weather. —–= Posted via Newsfeeds.Com, Uncensored Usenet News =—– http://www.newsfeeds.com – The #1 Newsgroup Service in the World! —–==  Over 80,000 Newsgroups – 16 Different Servers! =—–

OMIGOSH!  I’m going to be visiting in Brampton next week.  I understand about the brass monkeys from my time in Pennsylvania.  But I haven’t heard about the iron bulldogs.  Is this a question I can ask here? Paul R "Lee Babcock" <leebabc…@pathcom.com> wrote in message

Lee, You’ll have to go farther south than that, it’s only 48F there :-0 — Bob Gootee When you get to the end of your rope, tie a knot and hang on.

Paul…… in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, it was common to have cast iron ornaments on your front porch.  Lions, dogs, ducks, all manner of things. They were cast to two pieces and were bolted together usually at the bottom or the back where they wouldn’t be seen. Therefore, the expression, cold enough to freeze the nuts off a cast iron bull dog. Man, if you are coming to Canada, you better learn the language! <vbg> BTW, please don’t judge Canada by Brampton. Funny thing, the first time we went shopping there I almost bought some scones with black currants but for some reason I put them back. >>Also hit some .54017 ($1) stores :-) > LOL! Love it! Do you have dollar stores in the States? I don’t know what I’d > do without them! – Ali :-)

We have the dollar stores everywhere. If I don’t go to one of my favorites at least once a week the owner asks where I’ve been :-) That’s my exercise – walking around the stores and just looking. — Bob Gootee When you get to the end of your rope, tie a knot and hang on. news.newusers.questions Moderation Team Worker news:news.newusers.questions
