Does it ever get better?

Categories: Diabetes

Question:

My father, who is incapacitated by the "beast" at present is currently taking 200 mg/Wellbutrin SR, 50mg/Wellbutrin, 40mg/Paxil, and Ritalin.  He has been on

What is the difference between Wellbutrin and Wellbutrin SR?  Just curious ’cause I’ve been on 500mg/Wellbutrin a day for over a year now…

Eh? That is wrong if it isn’t SR that you’re getting. SR is slow-release Wellbutrin, or sustained release maybe, I don’t remember exactly and I pitched the info paper. Anyway, this part I do remember – doses of or over 300mg/day should be in no more than 150mg SR doses spaced at least six hours apart. The reason is to limit the likelihood of seizures. Get your prescription changed to SR.

My father, who is incapacitated by the "beast" at present is currently taking 200 mg/Wellbutrin SR, 50mg/Wellbutrin, 40mg/Paxil, and Ritalin.  He has been on Respiridol (sp?) in the recent past, as well as Ativan and klonopin.  It is still a chore getting him out of bed and he is still very suicidal.  He has been on this  "coctail" for approx 4 weeks….. Like father, like son, as I suffer from the beast as well…… I agree with getting some blood work done… For some, it gets better.  For others, it only changes. Keeponkeepinon, John

There is no reason for living.   I don’t know what to do.  I was on 40 mg, of  Paxil then that quit.  I’m on 225 mg of Effexor (the max) and

I know the feeling.  I too have no desire to live, although will not commit suicide mainly because my 15 y/o son might take it personally (depressive humor, that).  I cry all the time. I was on Zoloft (after trying many ADs) for several years, then hit the poop-out effect and stopped taking it.  Am now on Wellbutrin, started 1-1/2 weeks ago.  So far no real change, but I understand it takes up to 3 weeks to take effect. I don’t want to life like this, I can’t stand this pain any more.  I don’t know what to do. Zixi

I went to 300 on that stuff, Effexor. Stuff screwed me up severely. Works for most people though, pretty good pick. There are lots of medications to try, different ways of trying to achieve improvement. Are those the only two meds you’ve tried? Any suggestions?

I have some questions. How long did you take the Paxil at 40mg? How long have you been taking the Effexor at 225mg? How long have you been taking the Risperidal? How much do you take? Have you had blood tests for thyroid dysfunction, diabetes and a CBC? And yeah, sometimes it gets better.
