Diabetic cats and constipation
Question:
Hey I have a newly (two days ago) diagnosed diabetic cat. Can you tell me about your day and life with your kitty with his diabetes? All the good and all the bad. clare
Response:
My poor Rufus has had several bad bouts with constipation lately. He has needed to be hospitalized twice and treated with enemas, poor boy. He is diabetic (not really well controlled) and his vet says that he has noticed that older, diabetic cats seem to have a problem with constipation. Have any of you with an older, diabetic cat noticed this? The vet prescribes Lactulose for him on a daily basis. Trouble is that his pal, Cleo, gets it as well but TED says that’s o.k. I’m mixing the Lactulose with the food and so far only Cleo has reacted!
