Depressed–Need Encouragement

Categories: Diabetes

Question:

I was on Atkins last year and took off 15lbs for around 9 months. Then went on a honeymoon to Europe  and gained it all back over a period of 6 months. I am currently divorcing the psycho-bitch from hell and am finding it hard to go to low carb. I also suffer from hypo-glycemia and am pre type 2 diabetic. I have to do this and have to alter my eating lifestyle. Any encouragement is greatly appreciated.

Welcome. I wish you the best. Hope you will find the kind of group support you are looking for. I can only tell you that in my case LC has been great for my full blown diabetes, and I believe that if I would have discovered it years ago, that diabetes might not be a fact now. Since you are pre type 2, maybe that can be a great incentive for you to really try. I wish you luck. :-) – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – I was on Atkins last year and took off 15lbs for around 9 months. It’s always hard to get back on your first week, but once you get going you’ll start feeling motivated again. Consider it all a part of a fresh new start.  Just got back on myself and am starting to see the results.  This group has really been great in support, knowledge, inspiration and basic fun. Good luck!

There is an organization of divorced women called Life After Divorce is Eventually Sane (LADIES). Their motto is "Living well is the best revenge!" It applies to men too, I’m sure. So when thoughts of the " psycho-bitch from hell" get you down, try to switch gears to a nice dissipated tasting low carb treat (macadamias, carb-free chocolate,  or whatever appeals to you) and how great you will soon look and feel. I’ve been there, too. It takes a while but be patient with yourself. Ellen

Hi I think you are going to do great. Think how lucky you are that you found out early that you married "the man from Hell".. and were able to get out fast.. Takes a lot of courage– Use the same courage and guts to go back to low carb. Think how great and proud of yourself you will feel.  You won’t have any problem– you already passed a major hurdle. Best of luck, sue
