Confused Happy Dance
Question:
I am about as far from a fitness expert as you can be, but in Dr. Bernstein’s Diabetes Solution he strongly recommended using heavier weights to start your session, then decreasing the weight to prolong the session. He felt that doing lots of reps with lighter weights would not significantly increase muscle mass. Chuck

Let’s see if you all can explain this one for me. I sat at 181 – 183 for about 4-5 weeks, then I tried some of the suggestions fond here and it WORKED!!! As of this am, I have dropped to 179. I also do a set of measurements on a weekly basis, to measure "true" loss there since PP says to use that instead of the scales as a better sign of weight loss. Since last week, I have gained inches while I have lost lbs. Any ideas? I have stayed below my maximum carbs per day, Metal mouth has been here 95% of the time, and I was lifting weights and doing my AB roller, I wasn’t getting my 8-10 glasses of water, I was only averaging 6-8. On the weights, I have been doing them slow and steady so as not to injure myself, I am comfortable with them now. Hi, I can not give you feedback on the weight lifting – I am not well versed in that area yet. But it only sounds to me like you are gaining some muscle and strength which in the end will increase your metabolism and help you lose more weight and feel even better! Keep up the great work. Congrats on breaking into the 70’s!!!!!!!

Congrats on the loss. Not sure why you are gaining inches, unless it is just a shuffle of what was somewhere else? Keep on keeping on, and meanwhile, we are all doing the happy dance for you! – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – Let’s see if you all can explain this one for me. I don’t have any answers, but all I can say is that despite the loss of 20+ lbs in the last 5 months my measurements have not really changed at all – sometimes up a half an inch, sometimes down a half an inch. I am very careful to measure in the exact same spot all the time too. However, even though my hips and my thighs measure exactly the same thin that they measured back in November, using the exact same tape measure, I am still fitting into smaller pants than I could wear in November. Now how do I explain that one? I can’t, so I just don’t bother with the tape measure anymore.
