Chronic digestive problems
Question:
Actually, it was TBM (Total Body Modification). Does NAET have a protocol for leaky gut syndrome or bowel dysbiosis or were your stomach problems related only to allergic responses to various foods? These kids are probably reacting to foods but mostly it is a dysbiosis problem — they just can’t seem to get the beneficial bacteria to colonize in their colons. Gaylen
Gaylen– I don’t know specifically but I do know that there are energetic vials for various forms of bacteria. Perhaps that could help. This is a weird story. One of my semi skeptical daughters is going through NAET. She agreed to go because she was concerned about an inner (not middle) ear problem that had just been diagnosed. The pr has been trying to find something that she reacted to involving this. She was fine with ear infection, middle ear, etc. Finally he combined "ear" (yes there is an energetic vial for ear) with kidney meridian. It was one of those times where she could barely lift her arm holding those two things. After treatment, though she was strong. OK, it’s strange and I don’t pretend to understand it, but NAET treats more than allergies to foods and environmentals. One of the reasonably common things it can treat for is one’s own blood. Very strange. There are various organs etc. I don’t think there is a particular protocol for a particular disease all that much. But I do know anecdotally that NAET can often help autism. If the problem keeps reoccuring, then it’s probable that foods are being eaten that keep retriggering these reactions. Do specific foods kill off beneficial bacteria or are you talking about an allergic-type of reaction?
Neither and both. It’s not that the foods kill off bacteria, it is that by setting up a condition of dybiosis in the digestive tract, it allows unfriendly bacteria and molds/fungi to grow out of control – they are attracted to and capitalize on the poor environment. There are many theories as to how to find out what these foods are. My personnal favorite, and definately the least expensive modality is to choose one’s foods according to one’s bloodtype. I skimmed the "Eat Right For Your Blood Type" book and, while it is an interesting theory, I’m not sure I buy it. I found that my blood type of AB- means I can’t eat much of anything
. Now, prior to my TBM treatments, this would have been true. My mother’s blood type listed all sorts of fruits and grains which really mess with her diabetes. Actually, my son and husband already did eat mostly what was recommended for their blood type so I guess they naturally figured it out without reading the book
. Like anything, it probably is helpful for some. You just have to find what works for you. Gaylen
I’ll not try to convince you of anything, but if you haven’t found anything that works yet, what have you got to lose? Unlike any other modality, there is no money to be lost by trying a treatment, product, potion or lotion. Personally, I’m an O, and would love to be an AB! best wishes, Steve Shapiro

That does sound strange but since the body works as a whole it isn’t all that far fetched. I’ll ask my doc if she has any ideas. She has used some TBM to boost various systems. thanks, Gaylen

Then, since he improved some on TCM, why not try him on NAET? (OK I’m a big fan). It sure helped my stomach problems that were related to allergies.

Have u tried a low-carb, anti-candida diet? to prevent the yeast and parasites feeding off sugars and multiplying?
Yes, we have. My son has never really liked sweets so it wasn’t really hard. Some of the kids I work with do as well, others don’t. It’s harder when they are in school. I do find a strong coorelation with diet and overall functioning with these kids but something is still missing. I appreciate everyone’s input. Gaylen

STOP ALL starches, breads, and bakery products. This is what lo-carb MEANS.
We did that for the most part. My son eats better than most adults — lots of organic, leafy-green veggies, lentils and beans, some nuts, fresh fruits, meats, and fish. He eats quinoa, amaranth and rice sparingly. With the other kids, this is a real struggle because ultra picky eating is part of the autism package many folks get. Replace ALL THAT with bean & legume soups, with fresh tomatoes and berries.
Unfortunately, alot of autistic kids aren’t able to handle the salicylates or phenols in tomatoes and berries. Eat avocados, mangos.
My son’s favorites
. Unfortunately, we’ve had to cut back on the avocados for now because his system is to alkaline. Try a roasted yam with crushed almonds, and see how that feels going down. It’s very nourishing, and anti-allergenic.
He ate so many yam meals in the early days that he’s now allergic to them
. He’s also reactive to almonds. These kids can be really challenging when you have to juggle what they will eat with what they can eat without a reaction. Stay away from any product containing corn; and then only reintroduce it separately, so you can see if CORN is the problem.
That was one of the first foods we found my son to be reactive to. It was very dramatic when we removed it but he’s been corn-free for five years. I also understand that alot of bad fungii reside on corn. Thanks for your input. Gaylen

Some people don’t realize what a lo-carb diet IS. They keep wanting to serve the same wheat and dairy stuff, and get a better result. If you keep doing what you did, you’ll keep getting what you got before. STOP ALL starches, breads, and bakery products. This is what lo-carb MEANS. Stop. No Twinkies, no biscuits, no cereals, no muffins, no cookies, no pizza, no pasta of any sort, NO NO NO. Replace ALL THAT with bean & legume soups, with fresh tomatoes and berries. For bulking, whiz together some fruit juice, a banana and some ground psyllium seed. Eat avocados, mangos. They are filling and aid digestion. Try a roasted yam with crushed almonds, and see how that feels going down. It’s very nourishing, and anti-allergenic. Eat meat with lots of steamed greens, for fiber to eliminate toxins in meat. Stay away from any product containing corn; and then only reintroduce it separately, so you can see if CORN is the problem. There is corn in everything, and people who tend to react to corn end up reacting to everything. This means NO soda pop, no fruit drinks, no catsup, no canned foods. Hi all, I’m looking for some ideas to help kids who have chronic problems with digestion and altered bowel flora. This has been an ongoing problem for my son and many of the kids I work with. We’ve been to all sorts of docs both conventional and alternative. Tried all sorts of brands of beneficial bacteria, enzymes, tried killing off the pathogenic bacterial overgrowths, Candidia overgrowths and parrasites in some where they show up. Things get better for awhile but then the stomach aches return, pathogenic bacteria grow and beneficial bacteria decrease or remain at zero in testing. Something is missing but we’ve yet to discover what. If anyone has any ideas, please let me know. Thanks! Gaylen

Well, you have probably tried more things than we have. The digestive enzymes worked pretty well for us. But I really like a liquid I have tried– yes it probably is more short term than long term help, but it feels really soothing–Naturade Stomach formula at Wild Oats. You probably need to continue to give him acidopholus, etc. every day too. These are just the alternative type things. Has he had conventional testing? Then, since he improved some on TCM, why not try him on NAET? (OK I’m a big fan). It sure helped my stomach problems that were related to allergies. Now I can eat onion!! Have you tried any modalities such as acupuncture?
