Call all JoAnne's

Question:

Hi Marilyn, Here I am. And, only home for a few hours. I am recovering from spinal surgery I had on May 28. I am, however, scheduled for more surgery on next Wednesday for further correction of the spinal problem. I have been staying with my daughter during recovery.

Oh, sorry to hear about the surgery Joanne, but glad you are alive :) seeya in a few weeks.

Response:

We are missing one… I apologize but I forgot her last name.  She’s the T1 on a pump who has frequent problems with overnight hypos so has someone call her every night. If you’re out there JoAnne, please check in.  I’m worried about you. :) — Marilyn

Hi Marilyn, Here I am. And, only home for a few hours. I am recovering from spinal surgery I had on May 28. I am, however, scheduled for more surgery on next Wednesday for further correction of the spinal problem. I have been staying with my daughter during recovery. Newsworthy for anyone with a pump and anticipating surgery of any kind, my pump was with me through this major event in my life and served me well. Many who were taking care of me knew little about an insulin pump and so I was left alone to care for my diabetes. I was running high immediately (340’s) after the surgery and so once awake and oriented was able to take care of that. This coming week I will have more spinal surgery and am less apprehensive than the first time although I wish it were not happening again. I must say I have healed well (13 inch incision) and have had no infection and have been having good readings, even in rehab when given cortisone(notorious for raising blood sugar) I was able to combat it well with the pump and to keep readings from going through the roof. Thanks for asking Marilyn, and I am so glad I checked in tonight and saw your message. Hope to be back full time in a few weeks. Joanne
