TYPE II DIABETES?

Categories: Diabetes Type

Question:

LEVEL GOES UP AS HIGH AS THE 240′S AND TAKES APPROXIMATELY 3 HOURS TO RETURN TO NORMAL.  ANYONE ELSE WITH THESE SYMPTOMS?  COULD THIS BE IMPAIRED GLUCOSE TOLERANCE RATHER THAN TYPE II DIABETES?

I’m not one hundred percent sure, but, I thin impaired glucose tolerance IS Type II Diabetes. Ted Wolf Remove "NoSpam" for E-mail

Response:

I HAVE BEEN TOLD I MIGHT HAVE TYPE II DIABETES.  MY FASTING GLUCOSE IS NORMAL, HOWEVER, IF I EAT A HIGH CARB MEAL THE LEVEL GOES UP AS HIGH AS THE 240′S AND TAKES APPROXIMATELY 3 HOURS TO RETURN TO NORMAL.  ANYONE ELSE WITH THESE SYMPTOMS?  COULD THIS BE IMPAIRED GLUCOSE TOLERANCE RATHER THAN TYPE II DIABETES?  OPINIONS?

OK, it sounds like impaired glucose tolerance which may well develop into Type 2 diabetes in the near future. I recommend you get together with your doctor and find a dietician that can help you understand what the best preventative measures are. You likely will need to get an eating plan to keep your levels reasonable and, if applicable, lose weight, which may delay or prevent diabetes from developing.  ANYONE ELSE WITH THESE SYMPTOMS?  COULD THIS BE IMPAIRED GLUCOSE TOLERANCE RATHER THAN TYPE II DIABETES?  OPINIONS?

Incidentally, we don’t use all capital letters when typing here. It’s considered to be shouting and should only be used for emphasis on a key word or 2, OK? Ted Quick

Response:

Thanks for your imput.  Sorry about the capital letters–I am sometimes too lazy to type correctly!  I didn’t  mean to shout! Sincerely, Smeth123
