Just found out.

Categories: Diabetes Type

Question:

Well I was to have a scope- Op on my right knee until I done the pre-Op testing then I found out I have type 2 Diabetes. 40 years old and 25 pounds over weight, both my parents had this so it really comes as no surprise to me. But I do not remember them tacking pill for it or any kind of diet. I have not yet seen a Doctor to get this under control due to the week end and the rest of the testing for the knee. What I was wanting to know where can I find info- Names of good books on this type two and what to eat and what not to eat. I know the Doctor will do part of this But I still need to learn more on what this is. How I can keep it down and the studies on other parts of type 2 Diabetes. Thank You

Response:

Well, if you are lucky, your doctor will help educate you.  Some don’t.  I found the book Reversing Diabetes by Julian Whitaker very helpful.  And of course, there is a wealth of information on this newsgroup. Nora

Wow Thanks to all who has given me info on this I have gotten a lot of e-mail over it and there is so much you can read on this that it could take a lift time to do so. Books, the new searches and Associations on it I will be busy reading both this news group and book for a bit but I am finding out more on what I really needed Thanks again to all of you Jim

<DIVWhat I was wanting to know where can = I find=20 info- Names of good books on this type two and what to eat and what not =

The single most illuminating book on diabetes I have read is Dr.Bernstein’s "Diabetes Solution".  Although this deals primarily with Type 1, a little bit of his Type 1 solution goes a long way to help type 2.  My Bg this morning was 117 Hans
