Finally got the 'BOOK' today!

Categories: Diabetes Type

Question:

After searching and searching for it all over the place, I finally found it at Barnes & Noble.  The price that I found at Barnes & Noble almost put me into shock!  They were listing the price at 29.99…this is the book (paperback) that is suppose to be selling for 7.99…the one everyone has. Anyways they were selling them for 29.99!  I brought it to the attention of the store manager they someone had made a HUGE Bo-Bo!  He checked his records and sure enough, they had sold over 500 copies at 29.99 to previous customers lol.  I can’t believe that 500 people would buy this book NOT investigating the price. Anyways he ended up giving the book to me for FREE and told me I could take whatever else I wanted that was Atkins related.  So I also picked up the 90 day record keeping kit from Atkins, where you write what you do everyday as far as food and drink goes to keep track of myself, it retailed for 14.99, I could of taken more but I didn’t feel quite right about doing it:) Anyways if any of you have paid 29.99 for the book at Barnes & Noble, I suggest you go in for a refund of the difference…if you still have your receipt.

Got mine for 25 cents at a Thrift store!  It was the 1973 edition. I later updated to the new one for another 2 bits and found there was very little difference except in the recipes section which I never used anyways.  Popular books like this show up pretty regularly in thrift shops and used book stores — I know because I am a heavy (no pun intended) reader and frequent them a lot! — Diagnosed Type II Diabetes March 5 2001 Beating it with diet and exercise! 297/215/210 (to be revised lower) 58"/43"(!)/44" (already lower too!) I have that edition too as well as the 1998 edition and the most recent one too. later updated to the new one for another 2 bits and found there was very little difference except in the recipes section which I never used anyways.  Popular books like this show up pretty regularly in thrift shops and used book stores — I know because I am a heavy (no pun intended) reader and frequent them a lot!

You would love the used bookstore close by my place on Concession Street.  That lady has *everything*.  I find great old cookbooks in there all the time.  I also found a set of shop books there that I bought but have no use for so those will be up for grabs ($1.00 for the whole set) at my upcoming yard sale just to get rid of them and clear space on my bookshelf.
