Diabetic Triggers
Question:
Does anyone know what triggers the onset of type II diabetes? Is it possible that an out side stressor can induce the desease? My family was in a car accident 3 months ago…no serious injuries but, my husband developed whiplash….he has been in physical therapy and is taking medication. Curiously, 3 days after beginning a large dosage regime of Lodine, his vision began to blur and he began to urinate frequently. He then stopped taking the drug and symptoms disappeared in 3 days. He then tried the drug again with the same results except this time his vision remained blurry. At this point he was diagnosed with diabetes. Any related information would be greatly appreciated.
Response:
Dear Skip, There are any number of triggers to onset. Outside stresses certainly are one, such as the accident or even the stress put on the system by another medication. Our daughter’s onset at age 9 was due to a flu. Our son’s, at age 18, was due to emotional stress. The thing is, you never know. You could be genetically disposed to diabetes and have a hundred car wrecks and a thousand flus and never have onset. Then you get one little cold and BAM!! Hope this answers your question. — Rev.
