Diabetes & Lichen Planus Disease
Question:
I am a type l Diabetic and have just been told I have lichen planus disease. My doctor seems to think tha my diabetes has something to do with this. If anyone has any info please answer by e-mail. Many thanks Fran M
Response:
I have also at times been told I had lichen planus. The first time was before I was diagnosed with Type II diabetes. Two oral surgeons over a decade apart said " you live with it". It was a secondary finding to other problems. I would also be interested in any comments. Art Schor
Response:
Dear Fran: I can certainly sympathize with you. I too am diabetic and was diagnosed with lichen planus 20 years ago. I am told there is no cure but that it comes and goes. I hope you have luck treating yours. I would be interested in knowing your symptoms, what took you to your doctor, etc. Please write me. Bob Wilson
Response:
I, too, am type I (28 years next week) and just found out I have lichen planus. I went to an oral surgeon and had a chunk removed to verify that is what it was. I asked if it was related to having diabetes. He didn’t think so. He sees a lot of cases, and hasn’t found any correlation. Apparently you ‘have to live with it’.
