Calgarian de-lurking with good news

Categories: Diabetes Type

Question:

I live 4 hours north of Edmonton so a trip to Calgary wouldn’t be happening any time soon for me.  I would love to get to that store though.  If anyone ever finds a similar shop in Edmonton (or area) please post it. Donna I. 250/240/165 01/01/03 3rd times a charm

Response:

Hmmm….might be worthwhile for me to make a weekend trip to that store. I don’t think we have one here in Edmonton. Thanks for the info! Sylvia O. started Atkins Feb 2/03 268/256/150   Hi Everyone:  And a Great Big Thank You.   I’ve been lurking since November and started low-carbing since Jan 8th.  Most of my help has come from you, the newsgroupies.  I love this place, lots of good info all the time.  I don’t follow all the postings, some I don’t really need and some seem to go on and on, however some are so much fun that I just have to follow them.       This low carbing is wonderful, and I thank my brother Irv (Finkleman) who also follows this newsgroup for starting me on this.  My DH is not following the diet, however he does not bring anything home that I cannot have, and eats whatever I am eating, and has lost 1 belt size so far…. of course he exercises and I don’t (blush).  Even the place I work out of, a gift and coffee shop, now makes low-carb drinks and has brought in Torani SF syrups!       The great news is that I found a place in Calgary that has lots of low-carb and diabetic (no sugar) foods.  It is called the Diabetic Depot, and although I was in there before and there were only no-sugar items, I was in today and they are now carrying low-carb ! and Lots of it !!  .  Low Carb Tortillas !!! Low Carb Cereal; low carb DaVinci syrups (about a dozen different flavours); Low carb baking mixes, and no sugar everything !  :-)  happy, happy, joy, joy  :-)   They are even talking about bring in low-carb bread.       Although I am not longer on ‘induction’ I am keeping carbs to 20-25 /day, so I cannot overdo these goodies, (I semi-count sugar alcohols) but I will have a bit of fun.       Once again, I plan to keep watching the newsgroup and keep getting lots of tips and recipes.  Keep up the great work folks, you are helping a lot of people out here.   Donna Kiss   since Jan 8/03   317/304/???  (no scale, so last weight was Feb 4th)   Calgary, Alberta    http://www.nucleus.com/~donnakiss/    for my picture as of Dec/02:   http://www.nucleus.com/~donnakiss/links1.htm
