hyperglycemia
Question:
Does anyone have any information on hyper/hypoglycemia? What are the differences, in real terms, between the two? Can either develop into diabetes? If so, how can the possibility of this be minimised? faeowyn Before you buy.

Hyperglycemia– high blood sugar. Much of this at all and it IS diabetes. No doubt. You would need to find medical attention because this is serious matter. Hypoglycemia– low blood sugar. I believe there are different types of this. Sometimes results from adrenal problems. Eat several times during the day, and never eat carbs alone. Always eat them with protein and fat. The carbs you eat should have a low glycemic index– like whole fruits instead of juices. There are some cases where hypoglycemia develops into diabetes, although I don’t know if this is "officially" recognized. Why do you ask? BL

Thanks for following through with this. The son of a friend was diagnosed as hypoglycemic about 2 years ago. He does not take it very seriously – goes on the recommended diet from time to time. When he goes off it, and on to some junk food binge, he becomes impossible to be around – for that family, and becomes unhappy himself. I thought I read somewhere about the possibility of it developing into diabetes, and tried to tell them of that. They have said it is not possible, and also not very serious. Anyhow I still have no reliable evidence re the link with diabetes. Thanks. faeowyn Before you buy.
