Hungry Jack's health food
Question:
– Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – Mac’s are losing money hand over fist Henry (as you probably know) so they’re doing the usual "spamming" thing and targeting new groups:-)) There is a ’50s style McDonalds here that used to be packed all the time. The last few times we’ve been there, we had no problem at all getting a seat. I think they are losing a lot of money in not getting the orders right though. My daughter and I always order our food with things left off of it and invariably they get it wrong. This last time, my daughter warily checked her burger and said "Hey! What’s wrong! There’s no pickles or onions on here!" This time they finally got it right! *L*
So it’s a world wide thing with Macs then Julie. I’ve yet to see an order filled as it was ordered. Fortunately I don’t eat Mac anythings, but I USED to go there for the rest of the family. Now it’s Burger King when "Burger night" comes round, but I don’t eat their stuff either

I only go there because my daughter likes it. I don’t even think she likes the food all the much. She does usually like the toys. And this particular one has an ice cream bar with many colorful toppings. She almost always asks for ice cream, but rarely eats more than a few bites of it. I think it’s the colorful toppings that attract her. — Type 2 http://users.bestweb.net/~jbove/

The thing that impresses me about the HJ chicken salad is that it has no (or minimal) carbs, for those times when I want to keep away from all carbs. Henry

I haven’t tried that. I’m really not much of a meat lover. Don’t think I could bring myself to eat a burger like that. — Type 2 http://users.bestweb.net/~jbove/

I order one once in awhile from Burger King. I just tell them to hold the bun, so they serve it in a box with lots of lettuce, tomato, onions, and pickle with the pattie on top. Basically a salad and a meat pattie. — Cheri – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – I wonder if you could order a burger without the bun…… I haven’t tried that. I’m really not much of a meat lover. Simple. You either use a knife and fork like it was a steak, or you eat it with your fingers like a big greasy meat cookie. Lo carbing teaches you all kinds of new ways to eat stuff you used to wrap in bread. Dan

Yuck! As I said, I am not a meat eater. As far as taste/texture goes, steak is one of the worst! I can eat a bit of ground beef in a casserole or occasionally in a burger, but having been served a few too many plain hamburger patties as a kid, I just can’t bring myself to do it now. I’m also not a low carber. I do not think that’s a balanced diet. — Type 2 http://users.bestweb.net/~jbove/

Yeah. I had done really well for about the first two years of her life, giving her only healthy foods. I figured if she never ate that junk, she’d never miss it. Alas, other people didn’t seem to think that way and they are the ones who gave her the stuff. My sister in law acted like I was crazy because I wasn’t going to allow her to eat Spaghettios. I finally gave in because she said there was no other food. And there probably wasn’t. She doesn’t cook and her own kids eat only fast food, restaurant meals or stuff from a can or that is frozen. Lucky, the Spaghettios phase didn’t last long. Only long enough for me to stock up on the stuff. Now she won’t touch it. But I’m not complaining! I think she usually eats better than most kids. For dinner tonight, she had hummus, pita bread, cheese, salad with olives, and a peach. — Type 2 http://users.bestweb.net/~jbove/

My Mum couldn’t believe it when she discovered that my wife made up the boy-chics formula milk with no sugar (going back a lot of years). We never gave it a thought and he drank it like he liked it anyway:-) He bloody well likes the stuff now though

I’d just abut manage the salad, all the rest would still be sitting lonely on the plate:-) — Type 2

McDonalds has similar salads here now. They have Caesar, Bacon Ranch and I think the other one is a Cobb Salad. All come with chicken that you can get crispy (breaded and fried) or grilled. I hate chicken so I order mine without. They have the salads all made up and add the chicken when you order it. I don’t think any of them come with croutons. Burger King has salads too. They have a small garden salad and I think a chicken Caesar. Theirs do come with croutons. I don’t really like Burger King though. The salads are okay, but the rest of their food just tastes bad to me. — Type 2 http://users.bestweb.net/~jbove/

Hypo means low. And no, most of us are not that, although our BG can go both ways. Many type 2’s had reactive hypoglycemia prior to diabetes. Those of us who had that are more prone to getting hypos. But they are usually less common than the battle to keep BG down. People who use insulin and certain meds are also more prone to hypos. But there again, the battle to keep BG down is the problem. Hypos might happen once or twice a day if even that often. — Type 2 http://users.bestweb.net/~jbove/

*Before* developing diabetes, hypoglycemia is a pre cursor of diabetes. Diabetes means hyperglycemia. What your doc probably means is that you have been diagnosed early, before really high numbers and complications. Gives you a chance to avoid complications by eating like a diabetic now. You deviated last night and you see the result? I am 3 years into it now and I still don’t see sky high numbers, your reading after the burgers last night would have been about what I would get with eating the fries as well. I haven’t drunk real coke in over 30 years so diet coke would have been part of my meal. Type 2 diabetics can have hypos of course, for various reasons – medication, a reaction to high carb meal etc, I had a sleep after lunch today and was surprised to wake at 3.2. Only 3 hours after the meal.
