Are you allergic to powder milk too? There are some FREE receipes at http://www.healthyexchanges.com In the one for Strong Bones, are most of the recipies made with milk? I am allergic and would love to find some alternatives to broccoli. <g

Manda: Don’t know. That is one of the ones I gave away. I only kept the Diabetic and Heart one. But have you heard of the weight bearing exercises for strong bones? Better than calcium. Strong women stay young by Miriam Nelson, PhD. After I was diagnosed with a compression fracture in my back and went through some physical therapy for the pain, I started Miriam Nelson’s program. Feel a lot better. Sorry, Judy – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – Wow – hey judy. In the one for Strong Bones, are most of the recipies made with milk? I gave my mother in law the one for strong bones and the one for strong hearts.

Judy, You’re welcome. Please be advised that there are some books that she writes that are only available from QVC. If you don’t have QVC (cable shopping channel) you can go to http://www.qvc.com and search and order (or get phone number and order). I have ALL her cookbooks. – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – Also http://www.healthyexchanges.com. I suggest any of Joanna Lund’s cookbooks. Search http://www.amazon.com and/or http://www.qvc.com Bill: I was at Sam’s the other day and saw Joanna Lund’s books. I remembered your recommendations so I bought a couple of them. I agree. Her books are based upon good nutrition, but the clincher here is, she uses stuff that you have in your cupboards. I gave my mother in law the one for strong bones and the one for strong hearts. The books cost $9.99 each at Sam’s Club. Thanks for the advice, Bill. Judy

Search http://www.amazon.com and/or http://www.qvc.com I really enjoy "Better Homes & Gardens Family Favorites Made Lighter". It has a lot of ‘classic’ recipes in it like lasagne and stew. It’s just learning ways to cut out the fat and calories. It lists a breakdown for every meal and the carb/fat breakdowns. I haven’t found any recipe in it yet that I don’t like. They are all pretty easy to make (even for the novice chef). Good luck.

Some more sources… Try the ADA’s DIABETES FORCAST & also TASTE OF HOME & their QUICK COOKING MAGAZINE. Those carry some diabetic recipes in them. There is a diabetic cooking magazine called FAVORITE BRAND NAME DIABETIC COOKING. It’s good too! These cookbooks are good too HELATH COOKING WITH A MAN IN MIND by Joahnna Lund, SOUTHERN COOKING FOR DIABETIC, COOKING FOR DIABETICS & THEIR FAMILIES, & a few others. Book stores like BOOKS A MILLION & WALDENBOOKS carry those. The magazines are esp. found at BOOKS A MILLION & BARNES & NOBLE. Good luck! Peace & have a nice day! What are some cookbooks that specialize in diabetic recipes? I am a type 2 and control my diabetes by exercise and diet. Also, is there a diabetes organization you can join that sends out a monthly newsletter? Appreciate your help. Val
