Sorry, I haven’t been involved with that group, so I can’t give you any information. Mark

Response:

There’s a great Joslin Center in St Barnabas Hospital in Livingston, New Jersey.

Response:

I would agree! That book…"The Joslin Guide to Diabetes" is a great well written comprehensive book for the average guy with diabetes.  It should be ‘required reading’ for ALL diabetics, as it covers all the important topics. Would be great for all spouse of diabetics to read it as well! Joslin is a place that ALWAYS inspires me to take the best care of myself! Dave — (Remove *NO SPAM* when replying.)

I had a similar negative experience at the Joslin clinic associated with Swedish Hospital in Seattle. On the other hand, I can’t say it was all that worse than most of the other physicians I have seen over the years. The good docs seem to be few and far between – and not affiliated with any particular institution. Mark

I scond your opinion of the Joslin Clinic.  I started with Joslin in 1942. Been taking shots for 56 years.  Did you know that Joslin has several affiliates with hospitals around the country?   Ask the Joslin for a list of their affiliates.

Response:

I was a Joslin patient for about 15+ years – travelled from Albany, NY area to Boston once a year. Found quality of care was highly dependent on the Dr. (so.. what else is new). My first MD was great. We got along and I felt he really understood what I was going thru from DX and on. Subsequent Dr.s seemed to be treating patients like a production line, and I had trouble expressing my problems or getting my questions answered. Unless you had special complications, there was no interest. BTW, found the same situation in the eye unit. Opthamologist spent a grand total of 15 seconds in exmination. Dietician the same way, still measuring exchanges instead of counting carbs. I don’t doubt that Joslin is doing great things on research, and most likely handling difficult cases, but run of the mill appears to be a turn-off for them. I’m truly hoping others have not had these negative opinions; my initial interactions with them were good, and in fact, I probably would not be as independent as I am without their support. – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text –      The Joslin Diabetes Clinic people now have a website.  It is at http://www.Joslin.org       I only visited their website briefly but I plan to return to study their website in depth.  I understand that the Joslin Clinic is part of Harvard Medical School.  Yes, that Harvard.  I think that Joslin is is one of the places that is not a "diabusiness."  I also think that Joslin is one of the places that is truly interested in a cure for diabetes.       I bought their paperback book for $15.00, "The Joslin Guide to Diabetes" and it is an excellent book.  This paperback book is the best diabetes book I have seen thus far.      Oh, yes, I am not affiliated/associated with Joslin in any way.
